Going private

Wheels came off in yr 2- EBSA, school unsuitable now has a SS place for September going into yr 7. Transitions are begining end of this month, currently attends AP for 2 hrs a week. Currently on NHS waitlist for paeds- ADHD but we suspect may have a other diagnosis' to follow... I have decided to go down the private route. After a costly year going through tribunal and all that has come with that. We have a consultation tomorrow which is free. The consultant has worked in the NHS for many years along side private work as many do. I'm just so stressed and worried I guess, about the ongoing costs but it's no longer possible to put DC in this limbo. Can anyone give me positive experiences of going private? How long did shared care take? GP has said this would happen but how do I guarantee this.. can I?

You can’t guarantee it, I’m afraid. GPs don’t have to agree to shared care.

For those where it is agreed, how long it takes varies. In part, it depends on how long titration takes.

Is it still possible to remain on NHS waitlist even after private diagnosis and titration?(Sounds ridiculous, but I'm curious), so that prescriptions can be made that way in the future. It feels one long wait after another and financially not great. Just making sure I'm informed before tomorrow. GP has said they could take over but when is this confirmed after diagnosis?

You should be able to remain on the NHS waiting list. In some areas, you have to push to remain on there though.

Once stable on medication is when shared care is usually sorted.
