Hello
So my Y5 DD has ADHD and over last 2 years struggling with maintaining friends and struggling with going to school.
She used to have a small friendship group but as she hasn't got older they seem to ignore her, baby her and completely leave her out. She seeks other friends which is ok for a while but then she seems to not be able to maintain the friendship.
She has sat on friendship bench but she is left there and so she doesn't want to sit there.
School are aware but they say it is tricky as she seeks out an adult to talk to/ teacher. My DD has EHCP and senco aware but she hasn't started to school refuse has she has made great progress academically as only 2-3 years behind but socially she is struggling.
Why is it so hard for girls with ADHD. I am dreading secondry school

It sounds like you need an early review of the EHCP. Support with social communication and interaction should be in there. This includes support at break-time and lunchtime. Is DD receiving any SALT input?

Does the school run any clubs at lunchtime?

Would DD join extra-curricular clubs outside of school?

Have you started to consider options for secondary?

We had her AR and transition in feb but whilst I brought it up And we did discussed it school were side tracking.
I was a little annoyed because before AR one of the sencos said they weren't going to take much out. Then at the AR they took a lot out . But she had reached the goals but untill then the senco thought specialist would be best for secondary. But at AR both sencos were there including the main senco her boss . That senco always thought mainstream and didn't do EHCP as that only happened whilst she was on Mat leave.
Anyway I LA did amend at AR mainly cause they were taking stuff out. I did say to CO that I didn't think think they were providing the social skills as they couldn't provide evidence and I made sure that on the AR . That whilst she is progressing academically now only 3 years behind and 4 with writing her social /emotional difficulties have increased.
I have looked at many mainstream and specialist settings but can't see where she will fit. Like a lot of parents with neurodiverse children.
System is broken

If you don’t agree with the amendments following the AR, you will have or will shortly have the right of appeal, so you can appeal.

It is a good idea to start collecting evidence ready for the transition review, which should be held in the autumn term of Y6 (even if your LA is claiming the one in Feb was the transition review).

If the Outcomes have been met, there needs to be new updated ones in E.

Have you looked at out of area and independent settings?

Yes looked at both independent and in neighbouring boroughs. There is an independent that is a mainstream which says it supports neurodiverse or Sen children just waiting to see if we can look around it. Mainstream secondary seem to be worse at supporting Sen children not better as government said they were going to be.
Thank for the advice
