Alternatives to Nessy reading and spelling / BBC dance mat typing

Hello, my DD is 10 and in yr5. She's dyslexic and we've been using Nessy reading and spelling for a couple of years and more recently, BBC dancemat for learning touch typing. Nessy was recommended by the dyslexia assessor. I pay for it. The trouble is DD hates it, so doing it is mega battle, and she's hardly made any progress. I think part of the problem is school get her to do it in on a laptop in front of peers. So she says now that it is too babyish. I think the recommended age is up to 11 so it's legitimately on its way out. Can anyone suggest what else is out there? A good app or book to work through? More for spellings than reading.

You could look at WordShark. There’s also Literacy Gold and Lexia which look at more areas of literacy. Some like CodeBreakers. If you want a different typing programme, you could look at KAZ neurodiverse typing tutor.

Thank you, not heard of any of those!

Touch, Type, Read and Spell is more mature and develops reading and spelling skills whilst teaching touch typing skills.

@Kaggi9 have you seen or used it? Can you tell me more about it?

Thank you! I had a look at it today and think for £10 it's worth getting it for a month to look at. I've emailed school about it.

If Touch, Type, Read and Spell doesn’t work for you, try KAZ neurodiverse typing tutor. University students use that (it can be funded by Disabled Students’ Allowance), but it is also suitable for younger DC.
