Ds aged 6 is autistic and attends special school. He's great with numbers but otherwise has significant difficulties. Speaking with a salt earlier she's has raised some additional concerns and I wondered whether to mention this to the paed as I'm aware not all asd have LD but her concerns are down that route, thanks

Yes, mention it to the paed. The precise pathway varies depending on where you live, so if your paed can’t help, they will be able to referral.

If DS is in special school, he must have had an EP assessment as part of the EHCP advice. There should be cognitive scores on the report which you will have a copy of.
You can speak to his teacher at school who can explain any concerns. Is the SALT based in school?

Lots of EP assessments undertaken during EHCNAs do not include cognitive testing.

They would usually for a specialist setting in my experience. Worth asking.

Many, many do not even when the child goes on to attend SS.

It stems from many, many EP assessments undertaken during EHCNAs being poor.

This was our experience, they didn’t even see my child.
