Just that really.
Dd aged 14 is autistic and I'm beginning to question whether she may also be dyslexic .
She is in the bottom set for must subjects and feels she all the classes are disruptive and noisy and she can't focus
Her home tutor has mentioned dyslexia twice now and now her optician also
I've approached the school for advice / thoughts and all I received was a response to say they don't test.
I currently am financially supporting my son through uni and daughter through medical school, so this year at least is a huge stretch financially. I do not have much left over for a private diagnosis

I'm also aware that in year 10 any support dd might receive is crucial . She wants to attend university.
Can anyone please recommend a good way to get her promptly assessed that not too expensive?
Many thanks in advance

In the current climate, an assessment via the school or LA outwith the EHCP process is unlikely without significant difficulties/challenging behaviour. If you think an EHCP may be necessary, you can request an EHCNA and if the LA agrees to assess, an educational psychologist assessment will be part of the EHCNA.

However, the school should be providing support even without a diagnosis. Speak to the SENCO about that. And exam access arrangements don’t require a diagnosis.

You can look independently for an educational psychologist assessment (more comprehensive and not focused only on dyslexia) or an assessment from a specialist dyslexia assessor (which isn’t as comprehensive but is cheaper). Although neither a cheap.

If she wants to go to university it's worth you paying for a full diagnostic assessment, I would get one with an EP. At the moment there is a lot more support available for Dyslexic students at university than there is in school or college but only with a full diagnostic assessment.
