Positive versus Negative of assessing for ASD on top of an existing ADHD diagnostic

Doing some research around the positive of seeking an ASD diagnostic for a child who has already a diagnostic of severe ADHD and medicated and reasonably well supported.
Child's is exhibiting traits from the overlap of the two. ADHD traits very prominent, even with medication. no language or physical impairment.
Concern is around risk of misdiagnosis, lack of any additional/further support for that child that they aren't getting already for the ADHD, stigma and silent discrimination as well as not getting access to certain services (emigration, children custody, assisted procreation)
thank you

I think diagnosis is important for a better understanding of yourself.

Lots of support is based on needs, not diagnosis, but there are some exceptions such as some specialist autism groups/services, some specialist autism schools, the specialist teaching service in some areas.

An autism diagnosis alone won’t prevent a parent being the resident parent or having access. I don’t know about elsewhere, but in England, an ASD diagnosis alone doesn’t disqualify someone from fertility treatment either. Most immigration rules are around needs rather than purely on diagnosis.

Thank you, yes we have seen that a lot of the support is based on needs, which is great and helpful. and I agree for the better understanding.
Otherwise, what you are saying is very sensible but it's not really what I have seen said/reported sadly, at least not consistently, and not too sure what to believe as it's always difficult to get the full story.
also, the child has already experienced some (negative) discrimination in hospital settings, just on the basis of the referral having been made and being listed on her file, we started looking into, then we heard from a group of Ukrainian refugee, the one refused entry was the one with the ASD diagnosis. it made us wonder
