What does 'concerns over speed of working' mean?

My ds is 15 and I've been contacted by the senco asking/informing me that they would like to undertake an informal assessment of him after some concerns have been raised by a number of teachers Id imagine in part also off the back of me raising concerns about never finishing exam papers!. This will be discreetly done apparently sitting at the back of the classroom & children won't know who is being assessed (plus fairly common so wouldn't raise eyebrows). What exactly are they looking for & should I be speaking to my ds at this stage or wait for their report?

Any insight would be useful.

Speed of working includes things like the speed DS reads, the speed he writes and the speed he processes information (this includes things like working memory, phonological awareness, motor planning).

The school will be looking at whether they need to consider if access arrangements are needed for GCSEs. Nothing to be concerned about. It is actually a positive they are looking at this. If you want to tell DS, I would tell him this.
