Hi everyone,
Sorry if I’ve posted this on the wrong thread I haven’t used this site much. I’m posting regarding my 10 month old daughter who is showing clear signs of ASD (no eye contact, doesn’t respond to name, doesn’t smile much, irritated around older sibling) I have 2 older daughters - oldest is 7 and has level 3 autism, but had meningitis as a baby so has complex health needs too, middle is 4 and is NT. Because of my oldest daughter’s situation I never expected to have another child that would struggle to this extent especially as I’ve went on to have my NT daughter. I am very sensitive to this condition so I know what I’m seeing. I’ve lived this life for the past 8 years. My parents are trying to pacify me and say it’s too young to tell, but unfortunately for my daughter it isn’t. What really has me worried is that I’ve read online the earlier the symptoms are noticed it automatically means level 3 - does anyone else have this experience? Would intervention at this age benefit her at all? If I have to raise two level 3 children then it is what it is, it won’t be easy and I feel heartbroken for my NT daughter who just wants to play with her siblings.

Sorry for the long post. Thank you for taking the time to read.

That isn’t necessarily true, in my experience. Especially when the parents already have a diagnosed child.

If you are concerned, I would speak to the GP and HV now.

For DC2, as she gets older, it is worth looking at your local young carers service and Sibs.
