just looking for abit of insight. Had our initial telephone call with someone who said we had ‘passed’ the first stage and the next would be more in depth with an OT. We then received a letter to say we had been placed on list for OT. We now have an hour long phone call booked in 2 weeks with an OT. Will a decision be made at this point after this call is this the person who is going to advise council if we need the DFG or not? Or are we way off that ? Any advice would be really appreciated thanks xx

I'm not sure if it's the same process in every council. After I had the ot assessment it went to panel where it was accepted (it then sat on someone's desk for about 8 months because of every excuse under the sun covid, waiting for costings etc). I had to do a lot of chasing.

Unfortunately, the process can take a long time. The exact process varies depending on where you live. It is highly unlikely any firm decision will be made during/following the phone call. There can be OT visit(s), surveyor visit(s), plans going backwards and forwards, quotes, discussions over top up funding if needed…

Ahh okay thanks. Ohh i know it can take a very long time… and knew there would be lots of visits for quotes, surveyors etc IF they agree need. Was just hoping we’d know following this if they was willing to agree it or not! No idea how it all works its already been going on a very long time to get to this point! X

Sometimes the surveyor etc. can visit and the council still refuse.
