Hello, we live in Brentwood, DS is still in nursery awaiting EHCP and ASD diagnosis, could I get advice or experiences or recommendations on specialist schools in the Essex or Havering area?
Very grateful, thank you.

Can you post more about DD’s needs/presentation? Otherwise any suggestions may not be appropriate. Are you looking for a nursery placement or ready for reception?

Apologies, yes, DS has 2 more years of nursery and should start reception Sept 2026. Currently non-verbal, but is starting to sing the alphabet, random word here and there, some with meaning, some not. Lots of singing (tunes) and babbling. Hand leads all the time, able to communicate in that way. Not yet potty trained, good eye contact. Good gross motor skills, lines up toys, likes the alphabet, Peppa Pig. Limited diet (beige foods, yoghurts and milk still). Developing well, content boy. OT says he is tactile defensive. No sense of danger.

Not as many specialist schools have nursery provision. In Essex, you could look at Harlow Fields. You could also look at Oaks View and Pioneer. I suspect the Harlow Fields might be more suitable for DS though. There is also Doucecroft but it is wholly independent and was full the last time I knew. There are 2 Lime academies in Havering. I have heard mixed opinion.
