Changes at school?

I have received the usual "back to school" email ahead of the start of the new term next week. They have two days of inset, then the first half day is spent with the students being told about changes to policy and practice. I am now wondering how my ASD yr 11 is going to cope with this! The first day back is always difficult and I think it would have been helpful if school communicated any significant changes ahead of time for those students who find such changes difficult. But I am not sure if this is something that other schools do?

So for secondary - does your school prepare students (or at least inform you) ahead of time for any changes, given they know they find change difficult, or do they just get on with it?

FYI - I am very aware of how schools work as I work in education myself.

Where possible DS2’s school gives advance warning of change to DC with SEN. DS3 attended there until earlier this year and to give an example, last year he had his timetable before they broke up for the summer. It was provisional but nothing actually changed. If it had I would have been emailed straight away. DS3 met the new teachers and classrooms before they broke up.

Thank you @EndlessLight. Sometimes I feel like I am asking the impossible, but I know other schools manage it so I guess it is about priorities 🙁 Will keep on trying to work with them to change the system...
