My son has just started on methylphenidate 5mg for ADHD.
We have explained what the medication is for and he really wants to have them but physically can't.
We have tried putting it in yogurt out of the capsule (but chews it so can not do it this way).
Tried Jam, tried asking him to just swallow it but he still drinks from a baby bottle (he has asd and and he will not drink form anything else and tbh I dont think he would do it even if a normal drink).

Tried begging tried a reward chart tried bribery nothing is working.

So just wondering if anyone has any other ideas that might help?

How old is DS?

Ask for a liquid medication and syringe slowly between the gum and back teeth. It can’t be spat out then.

Alongside this, it can help to practice the technique of swallowing tablets/capsules by practicing with other food items. For example, starting with hundreds and thousands, then moving on to tic-tacs, jelly tots, chocolate chips, jelly babies cut up. When practicing, make sure DC doesn't put the e.g. tic-tac to the back of their tongue and that they don’t tilt their head right back. Some find using a sports bottle DC can seal their lips around helps or this.

Edited

And I have asked his paediatrician if there was any other medication and she has told me by email no there isn't.

There are liquid ADHD medications available, so I would query why they won’t prescribe one.
