Sen equipment in mainstream

My child is in a mainstream school, we are currently appealing this for a Sen school. In the meantime child will be staying here. Tribunal isn't til next year.

I visited the Sen room there the other day and the equipment was very limited they just have a bubble lamp, a bean bag and tent and also have zero budget. Since my child is attending there and I am in a position to buy some things bits for them with a budget of around £600 can anyone recommend any good equipment that the school would find useful for not just my child but other Sen children?

They have a very small room with a small outdoor area (concreted)

I was thinking magic meadow trampoline board and a spin chair any further ideas would be most helpful

I would ask them. They know the needs in their school other wise you could buy nice things that sit unused as it isn’t needed by anyone.

@PathOfLeastResitance thank you, I did ask and they said they needed everything and are short of everything. I don't think they have much training in Sen and no teacher or ta is SI trained so was hoping somebody currently working as an si OT or within a Sen school maybe could point out some things that they found was good and engaging

I would ask them for a shopping list with a budget. Did they know it was £600? Over the years I’ve had various amounts donated (all very gratefully received and valued) and it depends on, if I know the amount, if I’m buying theraputty and yoga balls or stand up desks and specific physio equipment.

That said, from what you’ve noted them as having, I would look at yoga balls, theraputty, wobble cushions, balance boards, fiddles to focus, large cushions, weighted blankets, fairy lights, some way of playing music (a Bluetooth speaker?), physio bands, chewlery, slam balls, sand tray with toys, ingredients and bowls for making slime, painting equipment, small world play. Just some ideas!

@PathOfLeastResitance no they don't know the amount I will go back to them. I thought they may have some idea but they seemed abit clueless tbh. Your ideas are great thank you!

You could look at bilibo, whizzy dizzy, carousel, exercise &/or peanut ball, cuddle ball, bodysok, stepping stones, resistance bands. If the outside space is big enough a scooter board or space hopper. If the school doesn’t have much I would go for several lower priced items rather than one or two higher priced items.
