Respite - Gone wrong

Okay, so my DS has respite for 3 hours a week term time.

Used at the weekend. On a Saturday

The carers use to take him to a special needs club, just for disabled children. My DS could run about and do whatever there with no problems so it was ideal as it was a secure place

It's now closed for the foreseeable. And I am stuck

What can I get them to do with him? He won't spend 3 hours in a park (doesn't like it)

Very high care needs, non verbal. Flight risk constantly. Can't do usual activities

He loves to swim but the carers he has don't feel comfortable with this, understandably.

I am out of ideas Sad it's really rough caring for him in general and I just don't know where they'd go for 3 hours

I do not want the respite care to be carried out at home'

Are there any respite centres near you? Or any other SN groups or activities? Some alternative provisions work on Saturdays, are there any that would be suitable near you? If you could change the time/day would that open other possibilities?

Can DS being a flight risk be mitigated by increased supervision from carers/the ratio? Or are DS’s needs such that that wouldn’t help?
