School have said Son could have ADHD - what now?

I'll start by saying this is no Surprise to Me, it's something we have wondered for a while and also raised to the School previously. DS is 7, has epilepsy (not sure if connected) and the worst attention span ever. He's very bright and hugely popular, but more 'hands on' learner than academic.
Spoke at great length to the School this Morning who agree there are several traits which could indicate ADHD. I've booked a GP appointment for a chat, then will also book to see the School SENCO. I've heard the process takes a long time with huge waiting lists, can anyone shed some light please?

The process and waiting times varies area to area. In some areas you can self refer. It is also worth speaking to DS’s neurologist.

In the meantime, the school should be providing support based on DS’s needs.

Hi
Don't mean to sound despondent but in our part of North London wait times for an ADHD assessments via CAMHs can be 3-4yrs. We ended up getting a private diagnosis in the end because of this.
As OP says, the Senco needs to be involved in seeing what provision can be made in school in the interim, good you're having a meeting.

"Right to Choose". Got my son's diagnosis for free within a couple of months.
