Reader and Scribe Help

Our 15 year old severely dyslexic son with full ALN (Wales) will be sitting his GCSE's starting later this year. He has x4 1:1 sessions every week with two specialist dyslexic teaching assistants.
My question is that we were led to believe by the school that his exam papers would be read and scribed by someone he knows ie. his 1:1 teachers. Now we are told this will not be the case and it will more than likely be someone outside of the school environment to do this.
Is this correct or can we demand that he has someone he knows.
It is important to point out that he struggles with people he does not know. Even to the degree that if they are wearing strong perfume/aftershave he will switch off and not do any work, he cannot concentrate if put in a position like this.
Any advice or if anyone has any literature from EHCP or ALN documents to back up him receiving the arrangements he needs. TIA

The school should not have led you to believe that because JCQ’s ICE guidance states the scribe should not normally be the student’s teacher, LSA, TA. Where they are they cannot also be the invigilator and another person is required. Also, a private tutor cannot be the scribe at all.

The LA have said and written into his IDP for the last 3 years that any tests, exams need to be with someone he is familiar with.
He has spent all this time getting used to teaching assistants that understand how to put questions to him.
It is so frustrating. We are awaiting a response from the LA to this query.

that understand how to put questions to him

In exams, the reader can only read what the instructions, questions, student’s answers say. And the scribe can only write exactly what is dictated (and read answers back).

The school should have introduced DS to someone else who could act as a scribe and reader. Or, if there is no other choice but to use the TA/LSA/teacher they should have introduced him to who would be the invigilator.

It is worth reading JCQs guidance.
