Dyslexia and GCSE exam access

Hi my daughter was awarded extra time at SATs for her dyslexia. She has a formal assessment but no ECHP. She has recently had an external assessor check her access requirements for GCSE but she got above the benchmark of 84. She has been struggling to finish mock papers and tests so we were hoping she would be given more time in GCSE's but this doesn't seem to be the case. Does this sound correct? Should be assessed any other way to gain the extra time?

You can see the access arrangements here.

For applications for those with learning difficulties and no EHCP, for extra time, candidates need 2 speed of working standardised scores 84 or less or one 84 or less and one 85-89.

Occasionally extra time is possible when there are 2 85-89 and very, very rarely when there are multiple scores of 90-94 and there is other evidence.

It also needs to be the pupil’s normal way of working.

It used to be the case that one score under 84 was enough, but the criteria have now changed.

Has your DD had extra time throughout secondary school for exams and tests?

If she's in Y11 it's probably too late, but if in Y10, have a chat with the SEN department at her school about access arrangements and what testing has been done.
