Hi, Does anyone know of any good autism friendly schools in East/North East London, Redbridge, or Essex?
I need to find a good school for my 3 year old ds with autism.
Please tell me about your experiences good or bad, or if you have heard anything good about any school in particular. My ds is verbal, but only with 1-word phrases, and has limited comprehension.
TIA

All schools should be autism friendly, (even though I appreciate this isn't always the case). IIRC you are in Redbridge? Do you have any Hatton Outreach support yet? They would be able to advise you on schooling, but the best thing to do is make a load of appointments to visit schools and speak to SENCos about what they do for current pupils.

Must admit that I started ABA when my DS was 3 and it's the best decision I could have taken - in our case at least, it got through to him far better than the (highly expensive) and so-called autistic-specialist nursery we sent him to (which did nothing, just sent him backwards). I know not everyone will agree, but for me a combination of home-based ABA and then later on part time inclusion into mainstream, with a shadow trained in ABA, is the best education for an autistic child. My DS was non-verbal when ABA started and now has lots of words and some two word phrases, plus loads of comprehension and much much much better behaviour. Also, I have heard great things of Treehouse but I believe there is a waiting list. Good luck Deeeja! Also, my DSD did go to a good state primary in Suffolk, but that may be too far away.

Hi Deeja,
I am replying to a 4 year old post but I am probably in the same situation as you were 4 years before. I am looking for ABA friendly school in redbridge. Could you please share your experience?

Leo, you would probably get more help on the children SN boards as this one has very little traffic
