Best areas for Special Schools

Hi everyone,
I am hoping to move and also choose a special secondary school for my son who has ASD, he is what they would call 'high functioning' so also needs to be academically stretched, however struggles with a number of sensory issues
Can anyone help with which areas are relatively safe (lower crime rate) and also have a good selection of special schools.

We currently live in Croydon but the area is not very good at all.
I am considering greater London also, but notice there is not as much choice as inner London.
Thanks everyone!

Hi there, @PurpleRain2486 - we've moved this over to our SEN topic for you now. Hope that helps.

Have a look at Holmewood school in Barnet and the Rise School in Hounslow. You could also look at More House and Unsted Park in Surrey.

If you are considering moving away from London altogether, you could look at Breckenbrough in N. Yorkshire, West Kirby on the Wirral, Alderwasley hall in Derbyshire. Some people like Gretton in Cambridgeshire, Swalcliffe Park School in Oxfordshire, Wemms in Surrey, and Church Lawton in Cheshire. But equally some don’t like them, they are marmite schools.

Be aware, if you move LA the new LA will review the EHCP and potentially amend, reassess or even cease to maintain. You would be able to appeal, but it is something you need to be aware of.
