I'm currently looking at schools for my daughter who has autism and an global developmental delay. Oh what a stress it is. I don't know what to do, mainstream with a sen provision. A mainstream with a sen unit. Or a special needs school, whatever we choose there's hardly any spaces. I was told by 1 school that they have 6 special unit places for 2024 😳 and having looked at quite a few schools it's a running theme. As all parents I just want what's best for her and it's causing a lot of anxiety. I was told by a school today that we can name them in her EHCP but it may be that in a few years they can't meet her needs and they will have to request a different setting. I just feel like her future is uncertain. I'm sure all if not most sen parents feel this way 💔 need to make a decision with out a crystal ball to know how she will develop and get on in years to come

It may be the school DD starts attending next September won’t always be suitable and at a later date a change of placement will be needed. But that could be the case for anyone and with any type of school. Try not to worry about that. Don’t borrow potential problems from tomorrow.

Is DD attending nursery? What type of nursery is it and what level of support is she receiving? Has she had EP, SALT and OT assessments?
