Possible ADHD, reluctant home ed

My daughter is 6 and for a couple of years have wondered about ADHD, behaviour escalated in school and she was even excluded one afternoon when supply teacher was in.
In brief(!):

-no awareness of others eg. When walking down the street won't move for the old lady coming towards us

-potty trained easily but not dry at night. Taken to wearing nappies in day as gets 'tingly' feeling after urination

  • very impatient, interrupts conversations, everything has to be now

-easily frustrated gets upset and angry quickly

-sensitive to certain sensations eg. Loves swimming but often screams when cold after leaving water. Also certain clothes

-loves art and when interested can explore something for hours

-has taken to sucking/chewing clothes (self soothe?)this appeared in the last year only

-very athletic, loves cycling, monkey bars etc. Not much awareness of danger

-social and loves creative play but often dominated others, friends can be scared of her

-gets very dysregulated in class and has taken to climbing on tables, running away. Influenced by other classmates doing this but obvs not OK

If you made it Thanks for reading so far!

We are doing home ed whilst on waiting list for local schools as moved LA, but sometimes despair of being able to remain in mainstream.

Can anyone relate and tell me it improves *(if it did)?

Approached GP a year ago but got the brush off from CAMHS, so I need to go back

In some areas you can self refer.

Have you seen the GP about DD’s feeling after urinating to rule out a physical cause?

Have you been offered education via the LA? Or have they not yet offered anything? Does DD have an EHCP?

Thanks for responding @OvertakenByLego

Yes we have been to GP many times, constantly testing her urine but negative so UTI ruled out, especially as she had in the past suffered from constipation.

She doesn't have an EHCP, but was on sen register in previous school. They've offered a place at a local school but I feel it wouldn't be good for my DC, plus getting there with younger siblings and no car is very tricky, and a major source of stress of the family eg. Meltdowns, sitting on the floor refusing to walk in the rain etc. So I have not accepted the place or registered her there.

In which case it sounds like DD needs a referral to the continence team &/or CAMHS.

Think about whether you need to request an EHCNA.

If the school you have been offered is more than 2 miles or she can’t walk due to her SEN you will be entitled to transport for DD. If you appealed would any of the schools you were not offered a place at not be infant class size appeals?

Sorry don't understand the last question.

Many appeals for reception/Y1/Y2 places are infant class size appeals i.e. the classes have 30 in. Schools can’t go over 30 in infant classes except in a few specific circumstances. If any of the schools you applied to and were refused don’t have classes of 30 you have a chance of an appeal being successful as it isn’t an infant class size appeal, so have you thought about appealing?

I was told all the classes were full but haven't asked about specific numbers, I will do that, thank you.
