My son is so hard at bedtimes that he hasn't been going to sleep till 12 at the latest. Back to school started, his hours changed from 10-2 to 8:45-1:30. First day back was fine, however the past two days, he's been unable to get up and Iv tried everything to calmly get him out the house to school. Two days he's not gone in till after 10:30, I just feel like I'm failing and I have no support to help me.It's having an impact, as I don't get evenings to myself anymore and the mornings are just a nightmare!

Does DS take melatonin or anything else to help his sleep? Is DS’s sleep pattern a recent change in the run up to the return to school or is it a longer term problem?

He doesn't take meds for night time, it's been abit of a wait, he's been referred to a sleep clinic. He was on meds for his adhd start of 6 weeks holiday, it effected his bedtime massively, and since stopping his bedtime routine hasn't been the same. I can't seem to get it back, he's become very defiant. X

I really would recommend you try using melatonin to help him get a good night's sleep. We also found ADHD medication impacted on my son's sleep massively, he was getting in a real anxiety about it, but since taking melatonin he gets drowsy after 8pm and sound asleep usually an hour or so later. For us it's worked brilliantly and we are on a low dose, just 2mg.
