Hypermobility / discomfort in autistic DC

DD (4yo) is autistic, non verbal, and we have been told she has generalised hyper mobility. She often seems extremely uncomfortable / in pain - grabbing her joints and feet etc and screaming as she twists her body up. Lately it’s got really bad and she’s inconsolable and I’m worried that she’s in pain.

any experiences - of treating pain / discomfort in a similar situation (unfortunately she’s already very suddenly gone off baths - and I think a warm bath would help) , particularly with a non verbal DC? Hard to know for sure if that is what she’s feeling.

i know there’s another recent hyper mobility thread but didn’t want to derail a slightly different topic.

Physio and OT can help. You could also look at a biomechanical assessment (normally via podiatry) and orthotics.

Thanks @Relaxinghammock will look into it. Not sure how tough that would be with her being non verbal / not following instructions but worth looking into!

Good HCPs should be able to work with non-verbal DC.
