Secondary schools for HLP DME (ADHD/ASD) SW London

We are trying to find a secondary school for our DC10 who has ADHD/ASD and has an EHCP but also his HLP. We didn't have the EHCP in place until mid year last year, and didn't know that our LA actually request at least a provisional list of possible secondaries by the end of July this year, so we missed all the last autum Open days. We are strugling to get through schools for visit outside of the Open days and the ones we have been able to see, are not suitable. DC is also highly academic, self-directed learning/higher order thinker.

Has anyone know of any schools around Putney/Fullham/Banes/Roehampton/Richmond/Wandsworth/Wilbledon with no religious affiliation that could cater for a child like this? state or private?

Thanks

Are you looking for mainstream or specialist schools?

Looking into both, mainstream and special, although I noticed the special schools around us are for more profound dissabilities, and some of the independent special schools, won't be opening consultantions until later in Autum term. Also we are looking into Co-ed schools.

It seems once you take out the ones with religious links and big academies, there is hardly anything left.

You could look at Wemms, Odyssey house, and Holmewood school. Depending on where you are Unsted Park may even be within travelling distance.

I wouldn’t rule out all religious schools, just because they are religious. Look at them individually.

Hampton, Halliford, Tiffin boys

@mary19 we are actually looking for co-ed (boys & girls) if possible. Thanks for that, we looked some of these schools already, but they don't want to know much as soon as you meantion SEN (ADHD/ASD) sadly. Thanks for the ideas.

@Relaxinghammock Unsted Park it's from the same group than Roehampton Gate which is near us and we have contacted them already but they won't do anything until autum term in any case.

Wemms seems for more severe ASD our DC is just bordeline, but we'll have a deeper look. Odyssey House looks promising, trying to work out if they provide transport the same than Holmewood school. Our child is in a very good state mainstream at the moment, with the right support he can be in mainstream, but it's worth to explore other venues.

Thanks for this input.

Wemms isn’t just for more profound needs. They offer a range of GCSEs and A levels, and some pupils go on to university.

Unsted Park is a section 41 school, so you don’t necessarily need an offer of a place. You will also be able to change you choice next term as part of the phase transfer review if you need to.

Transport can be provided by the LA.

Has anyone else has more ideas, we had ended in one that it's good academically but the SEN dept and staff haven't got a clue.

We are already considering other options, but again stuck.
