ASD DD (10) reading materials / explanations

So DD (10) has just been diagnosed with ASD. She is yet to have the assessment for ADHD, but the doctor has indicated she is likely to be confirmed for that too.

The main thing, is that she is really relieved. She was more concerned that the doctor would say “there is nothing different about her” when she says, she’s always known there is. (Long story. We did have her assessed 3 years ago with an inconclusive outcome)

But for those who have been on this journey -

DD is asking for reading materials / books so she can understand what this is. I’ve scoured Amazon and I would prefer some recommendations from people whose own daughters have wanted to understand what they’re feeling?

We were recommended this book by Lorna wing following my dds diagnosis - we got a copy at the library as it is quite expensive! It is aimed at adults rather than children but you could read it together and talk things through. Girls and Autism: Educational, Family and Personal Perspectives amzn.eu/d/6OvHAU1

My DD 12 read the books by Libby Scott and Rebecca Westcott when she first got diagnosed and she found them very helpful. 'Can you see me?' etc. There is about 3 or 4 of them. They are fictional books about an autistic girl and Libby Scott, one of the authors, is an autistic girl I think aged about 11/12.
My DD would definitely recommend them.

Best one we ever got was The Awesome Autistic Go-To Guide, a practical guide for autistic tweens and teens by Yenn Purkis and Tanya Masterman.
