Hello, I need some tips on how to find a suitable PA for an Autistic child. I've been given 5 hrs a week and need to find someone asap, not having much luck.
I need someone in Kent. Any tips?
Thanks

I know some people find PAs by asking local special schools if any of their staff want extra hours/if they can advertise there.

For DS3, we have had success asking local universities if we can advertise there. Depending on DS’s needs advertising via local colleges could work.

DS1’s respite is with ex-foster carers.

You could look at a care agency.

Ask your social worker too. Here the council has ties with an agency that puts one add for free on facebook, gumtree etc.

@ParentofAutisticBoy or any other poster with knowledge sorry to hijack but do you mind me asking if you’re having to sort out all the stuff with HMRC directly for PAYE tax purposes or is that covered by SS if you employ somebody from a direct advert say at school or a job site that isn’t self employed?

Im hoping to be granted some hours but don’t want to end up in a position where the time it takes to do the admin outweighs the benefit iyswim.

Social services won' sort out HMRC if you're on Direct payments.
You can do it yourself or have a payroll company (E.g. "Paye for nannies" also take on ppl with direct payments). They will enroll whoever is in receipt of the payments as an employer and charge for payroll and management (if that's what you want.)
