My DS (7) has just been diagnosed with ADHD, however, due to glaucoma risk, cannot have stimulant meds.
I’ve just been reading through the side effects of non-stimulant meds and have scared myself silly….I’d love to hear others experiences. Thanks in advance

What meds you thinking of? We are also trying food supplements

Does he have a specifically high risk for glaucoma? I say this, because I know a child who has a family history of glaucoma and who is taking stimulant meds.

This is not on glaucoma, but very interesting I think:

(just on meds) / (full length presentation)

You have to way the risks. People with ADHD have much increased for all sorts of things: traffic accidents, drug abuse, diabetes, etc. While the meds can have serious side effects, they lower these other risks. Plus they might impact your child's brain in a positive way in the long run. Reading about side effects is always worrying. I would try to stay calm and see what works for your child.

There is a really good book called the Parents guide to ADHD Medicines

Our DD takes Atomexetine. It has really helped her concentration levels. She didn't do well on the stimulants, it seemed to give her a bounce back meltdown each afternoon.

Hi Op,
How are you doing. My daughter is in the process of getting a diagnosis and has glaucoma. What did you decide to do with your ds?
