Hi I'm looking for recommendations for high schools in the North West that are suitable for 'academic' children with autism
My child is due to start high school next year and has autism, severe speech and language delay, adhd, sensory processing disorder and fine and gross motor skill delay.
I have been told that due to his language delay he is socially too vulnerable to successfully manage the local high schools.
He is too 'quiet and timid' to attend the ASD / emotional / behavioural difficulties schools and both local SEN schools have said they will be unable to meet his needs academically as he can access the full curriculum and they do not offer that.

I feel at a bit of a loss as to what to do next the LA case manager has basically suggested trying (and likely failing) at high school at which point we should then look to the social / emotion schools.

I'd rather just get it right first time so he can be happy and settled. I work remotely and rent so happy to move elsewhere in the North west if it means he can access education that is appropriate for him and was wondering if anyone can suggest any state, private, independent mainstream or specialist schools that may be a good fit?

You could look at West Kirby school, Church Lawton school and Pontville school. Also Breckenbrough which is just into N. Yorkshire and Alderwasley hall in Derbyshire.

Be aware if you move LA the new LA will review the EHCP and potentially reassess, amend or even cease to maintain.

Oh really, I didn't know that I fought 18 months to get the EHCP I don't want it removing 🙈
Thank you for the suggestions I will look
