I hope this is the right place to post , my child is in year 3 at a resource base school ive had problems with school in the past but this is a new one.

My child has a one to one all day , today i get a phone call at 3.40 saying all the one to ones are off tomorrow no one will be able to meet his needs so will need to be off school tomorrow? Can school legally do this? Xx

No, the school shouldn’t be doing this. Why are all the 1:1s off?

Thank you for replying , I wasnt sure if they could , one is due to sickness the rest due to short staff so were saying not enough to keep my child in and no one else could look after him.

Then they need to get someone! Either divert a class TA( if they have any) to support or get a supply TA in.

The school are illegally excluding DS, don’t allow them to. Email the school informing them DS will be attending school full time unless they formally exclude.

Also, email the LA’s Director of Children’s Services as it is them with ultimate responsibility for ensuring DS receives a full time education and the provision in the EHCP is provided. Is the full time 1:1 specified and quantified in section F? Or is it vague and woolly with wording such as “access to” “would benefit from” “or equivalent” “regular” etc?
