Toddler autism won't poo

My 3 year old hasn't been diagnosed with ASD but suggestions made to get him referred so starting that process.

He is v demand avoidant. Gets very upset doing anything we ask him even if he wants to do it (e.g. get out the car to go to the park) Runs in opposite direction to other kids

He just turned 3. We have managed to potty train him for wees. He wears pants and now goes in potty for a wee no problem and really enjoy the praise.

But he absolutely won't poo in a potty or loo. He absolutely understands. He just tells me "no poo poo no like it" and the poor lamb just waits all day. Then when I put a nappy on at night he goes. He's so uncomfortable during the day

He just won't sit on the loo for long enough. He gets so upset.

He's in a habit now of waiting for his nappy. And he actually wants to go to bed at 5pm and I just know its so he can have a poo.

Any advice? I would post on the SEN thread but seems barely anyone responds on that one.

It's been weeks of no progress

My eldest was like this, this is what we did:

put a nappy on when just she needed a poo so that she would go.

then we went through these steps waiting for her to be happy at each stage before moving on:

encouraged her to sit on the potty with nappy on to do a poo.

undo the nappy while sitting on potty first just undo Velcro then opening it out a bit more

laid a nappy in the potty for her to sit on

finally no nappy at all

Took a while but we got there.

My DS is exactly the same. His pediatrician got the GP to prescribe laxido to help him go as him holding it in..(and he does for up to 4 days ) can stretch the bowel. Laxido helps him go a bit more regular and we have now made a star chart for when he goes onto the loo which is helping😊 Still requires prompting to go onto the loo but any time he does is an achievement for him. Taking things at his pace definitely helps also
