Accent and autism or something else?

Today I had my sons first at home assessment for his suspected autism. All went well I think but there was one point where she asked me if he has an accent, this took me by surprise because all his life people have said he sounds like he has an accent (mixture of almost a Russian sounding , American and of course his regular English accent. I got distracted and didn’t get a chance to ask the significance of this? Does anyone have any clue? I’ve tried to google a bit but can’t find much information. I’m not sure if this could be related to autism or another condition perhaps?

Yes it is to do with autism- autistic children can be very good at mimicking, this is likely why they’ve asked.

Yep, it’s an autism thing, ds is American, following a period of sounding like English aristocracy. Not sure which is worse 😂

I was a nightmare as a child for mimicking. If my cousin would visit at the mention of it I would all of sudden start a cockney accent (I’m from the north) and it would drive my mum mad. I honestly didn’t even notice I was doing it. I still do it now without realising.
