Secondary school for ASC girl

Hi there,

I have a daughter in a mainstream prep school. She has an EHCP and a 1:1 at all times in school. She is autistic.

I think that realistically a SN school for seniors may be the way to go.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a SN school (preferably single sex) in the North West of England? She would be aiming to take GCSEs in year 11.

Thanks in advance.

don’t think there are any suitable girls’ special schools in the NW.

Depending on where in the NW you are you could look at Church Lawton (Cheshire east), West Kirby (Wirral), Alderwasley Hall (Derbyshire). Also look at some of Aspris’ schools (formally Priory).

Worth considering boarding?

For specialist I'd look at Limpsfield Grange boarding but its a long way from home.

I'd also look at Bruton School for Girls - independent mainstream - quite a few Autistic girls there, most of them at least flexi board, a couple full board. LA should pay if its too far to drive daily/weekly and will be much less expensive for them than a specialist. I bet there is a small all girls boarding school nearer you as well that might attract autistic girls and have staff used to teaching them.
