Not happy with school

Ds is 6 and has asd. There's a ehcp in place, he's on highest funding and he has a full time one to one who does work with him and small group work that includes him. Last year was fantastic lots of feed back, termly meetings with myself, senco, teacher, one to one and acsets where targets were discussed and updated it was clear to see he was flourishing. Unfortunately senco and his one to one left (along with around 20 other staff) this year has not been as good. Teacher seems abit dismissive and not good at replying to emails/being available. New one to one is sweet but not experienced and seems to be left to her own devices. No meetings since June last year except a transmission meeting for next school (no discussion of targets/ds schooling. ) lots of changes teacher on long term sick for few months so lot of swapping teachers now currently part time so still different teachers in. One to one has been off few times, I am never told about changes. Parent teacher meeting showed his work has deteriorated since September, and there's issues with behaviour. He has bitten 3 children and twice he's pulled his pants down at school. Behaviours at home mostly same although hes stated calling people stupid and losers which I assume is from school. I've arranged to see senco this week just looking for advice on how to address thus. Thanks

Presumably the transition meeting was the AR ready for phase transfer therefore targets/needs/provision should be discussed there. You should have a finalised amended EHCP by now, phase transfer EHCPs for infant to junior school should have been finalised by 15th Feb. If you aren’t happy with it and it isn’t meeting DS’s needs you can appeal.

Does the EHCP not mention the experience/training/qualifications of the 1:1? Or having the same person? Unless it does the 1:1 could be anyone and any number of people.

Most schools do have termly assess, plan, do review meetings to update IEPs. However, unlike EHCPs, IEPs are not statutory, so unless they are include in F you cannot force the school to hold them. If the school has had a high level of staff turn over that may explain the disruption in holding regular meetings. And although doesn’t excuse the poor communication it may go some way towards explaining it.
