My oldest is nearly 5, and she has some behaviours that we find difficult and sometimes wonder if she has additional needs. Although she is very sunny and friendly and funny, other times she can be so difficult.

  • issues/anxiety with sleeping and takes ages to fall asleep at night, we have to sit in landing whilst she does it
  • frequent changes of mood happen quickly, can be very emotionally dysregulated

-occasionally sensory issues eg. Wouldn't wear socks due to seam

  • poor personal boundaries eg. Approached the baby too fast and tried to give 20 kisses, even though she's been shown how to do it daily for the past 6 months

-can be controlling and bossy, always has to be first, hates waiting

-although cane watch TV or do art for an hour, she comes to eat tea at the table and Is climbing out her chair, or hanging off it, falling etc

Those of you whose kids were diagnosed with (inattentive) Adhd, does this sound similar to them age 5?

Sorry no adhd my son is asd. But sounds similar to my niece. Have you spoken to school about concerns? Have you read up on parenting techniques for adhd even without diagnosis you can apply methods and see if it helps.

Havnt yet mentioned to school as school don't really have an issue, and we were waiting to see how she settled after the first term. School say she can be clingy and seeking attention of the teacher but no concerns reported.

Thanks will look into parenting Adhd kids.
Anyone else to share their experiences?
