Noise-cancelling headphones

DD has ADHD and ASD.Her psychiatrist has recommended she be allowed to use noise cancelling headphones during her exams but the SENCO at school has said that "if she wishes to use headphones that can block noise these will need to be either simple ear defenders (or ear plugs) or something noise cancelling that will not have Bluetooth connectivity; she will not be permitted to plug these in to any background music."
Any recommendations on what to do? She has got over the ear headphones but they obviously have bluetooth - not sure how to help her here......

The exams officer can apply to the exams boards for access arrangements that allow DD the use of a device and noise cancelling headphones. If granted, and it’s not a given, it is likely to be pre-recorded content that has been checked and headphones that are either wired (like they have to be when using a reading pen) or only allow point to point access rather than multipoint headphones (like they have to be if using wireless headphones for MFL listening exams).

@imitatingdory - that's interesting ..... so it's not the SEN dept that would do the application but I could ask the exams officer? DD has mock A levels this week and next so too late for that but I would have time to sort it for the actual A levels (if they even go ahead....) in May/June???

Exams officers are responsible for access arrangements, but SENCOs may be involved in the arrangements too. The deadline for applying for access arrangements is 31st March. However, if DD is in Y13 the problem you have is the requirement for evidence and any access arrangements need to be DD’s normal way of working, so you are pushing it to prove that now and apply to the individual exam boards.
