SALT

My 4 year old DS had some SALT last term and he was supposed to have more this term. His Therapist left and hasn’t been replaced and I’ve been told he won’t get any until another is recruited.
He needs more speech therapy otherwise he will start struggling at school soon. School, and HV agree he needs it.
When I phoned up again to ask when he was going to get another block of speech therapy I was asked if he had a care plan? It was kind of implied if he had one he would be higher up the list. What care plan would this be?
Speech isn’t his only issue he’s academically very able but behind with social and emotional development, definitely dyslexic and probably mildly asd.

If SALT was specified and quantified in section F of an EHCP DS would be legally entitled to that provision, and it must be provided. If, for whatever reason, the NHS couldn’t or wouldn’t provide it the LA would have to commission independent provision.

There’s no such thing as ‘mild autism’.
