Hi all my son is undergoing assessment and all signs seem to point to a diagnosis of inattentive ADHD, school are aware and the SEN liaison spoke to me before the end of term to recommend a diagnosis and possible medication, which is fine. However I’m wondering what I should or could expect school to put in place when he returns in September, nothing has been mentioned up to now , but just wondering what support other children have had put in place, I was just thinking small things, not being sat my the window, allowed to have a fiddle toy etc , but just thought I’d see what I should expect, based on others experiences

What support schools provide depends on a child's needs, rather than their diagnosis. For example, depending on needs and age, movement breaks, sensory circuits, time out card, mentor/key worker, pre teaching, use of laptop, exam access arrangements, ELSA, small group work. If homework doesn't go online giving written instruction or making sure the pupil writes down more than just English homework.

Thank you for that list, who should decide what his needs are? I’m just unclear about whether this is something that should be stated in the report from the psychiatrist or is it something that someone at school decides?
