ADHD & times tables...

How do you get your child with ADHD to learn their times tables? Homework is excrutiating for my 7yo & he will NOT entertain learning his times tables. I have a CD/Youtube singing the rhymes, but he refuses to listen as he doesn't like the voices..at a loss.

Mine refused times tables.
In fact homework was a constant battle as, in his mind, once school was out that was it -finished.
It caused such awful problems that we eventually told school they could keep him in every break time if they wanted to make him do the homework but we couldn’t make home a battlefield. It really was hell but he has ASD as well. Sorry, no help at all but my sympathies, I know how hard it is.

Agree that it’s important not to make home a battlefield. Children with ADHD have to work so much harder in school because of all the environmental/ sensory stressors — he is letting you know that he really needs to rest when he’s at home. Tell the school that homework is not practical and instead concentrate on giving him all the security, love, affection, praise and physical connection that he needs. It will be better for both of you.

Thx v much for the replies. He's bright, but REFUSES to be timetabled. He 'got them' super quickly this morning whilst getting dressed..I casually asked him some of them & he loved the challenge & that was that. It became the new repeated 'obsession' on the way to school this morning.
