New dyslexia diagnosis: help us access support!

DD13 has just received a private dyslexia diagnosis. We went private as school did a screening test (after multiple requests) and deemed her low risk of having dyslexia. They weren’t hugely interested in assessing as she “is in top sets and not struggling.”
The diagnosis is of moderate dyslexia, but with a high IQ which meant screening wouldn’t pick it up. We have a list of recommendations, but I’m concerned school may not follow them/ offer the support as she is “doing well enough”.
How much support should I expect/ how far should I expect school to follow the recommendations? I’m arranging a meeting/ zoom with the senco and want to know what is a reasonable level of support to expect.
I would struggle to afford much wrt private support (the assessment cost me over a weeks wages!)

Firstly can I clarify is this a state school?

If so SENCO should add your daughter to the SEN register notifying teachers of this diagnosis. Any advice should be communicated to teaching staff. However this is likely to be it. Without funding from an EHCP there is likely to be little else school can offer and it will be down to your daughters teachers to ensure they meet her needs.

You should ask the SENCO about exam access arrangements, as these will not automatically come with a diagnosis but should be something that is investigated.

Hope your meeting goes well.

Yes it’s a state school. They’ve said they’ll repeat some tests to see if she qualifies for the recommended 25% extra time.
So we can’t expect any of the other support indicated in the report? Or is there a way to get an EHCP?

It varies hugely school to school but from my personal experience I wouldn't get your hopes up.

What recommendations were made in the report?

You are well within your rights to apply for an EHCP. You don't have to have schools permission you can begin the process yourself. Be aware it's a long process though and you often have a fight on your hands. Some authorities are easier to work with than others. From my personal experiences I would say you are unlikely to get an EHCP for moderate dyslexia (we have struggled to get them for severe dyslexics).
