Irlen and Cerium lenses

Hi
Does anyone have experience to share please?
My 11yo dd is dyslexic and had a colourimetry test for visual stress disorder and was given coloured Cerium lenses. She said they helped her to read initially but after a few months said they stopped working. Her dyslexia assessor suggested we get her tested for Irlen syndrome, which appears to be the same as visual stress, and possibly get Irlen lenses. Those are much more costly than the Cerium ones and I’m not completely sure of the difference, but the Irlen assessor tells me they have filters and the world doesn’t change colour when you look through them. The scientific world seems unclear on the difference or how they help. I’m confused!
Has anyone tried both? Has anyone had success with Irlen lenses? Or can anyone explain if the description is accurate?
Thanks

Hi. I would suggest you look online at Dyslexia Gold's programs, in particular "Engaging Eyes"
dyslexiagold.co.uk/EngagingEyes

Programs for dyslexic children need to provide a combination of structured phonics, phonological awareness and vision training.

Drop an email to Dyslexia Gold to get further info.

Current advice is to refer to an Optometrist for specialist advice when visual difficulties are suspected. here
