Hello,

Can someone please explain the difference in detail and how it affects on the timetable and curriculum overall. Why the resource provision is different to that of Inclusion centre. I understand the major difference will be specific interventions and staff training but other than that what is the difference and which one is more beneficial to the child. TA.

This can really only be answered by the specific schools you are looking at.
Each and every school is different in the way they operate.
Even the term 'Inclusion Centre' is not one I've heard of, but the actual provision there might be something I'm familiar with, under a different name.
(Through work), I've visited 6 different Resource bases in the past 3 or 4 years, and each one operates completely differently from the others. This is Primary, but it will be the same for secondary.
Same with special schools - they are incredibly different from one another and all run completely differently from each other in so many ways.

Thank you for the reply. Visit is not a possibility at the moment. I have contacted the schools but they only give standard information 🙁

Do you have an inclusion service in your authority ? Specialist Autism Team ? They would be in a good position to ask about the differences in the way the different schools operate. They won't be able to recommend one over any other, and won't be able to tell you if they think one is really poor (they have to remain neutral and pretend all schools will mee the chil's needs) but they should be able to both answer your questions about different ways they operate, and also possibly provide you with a list of specific questions to ask the schools.
I realise it must be a pain for all schools having to try to respond to parents' queries, but they have to answer specific questions and acknowledge that, whereas trying to run schools has been an absolute nightmare for the last year, that is not actually the fault of anyone trying to find out about them, and that it is also very difficult for parents needing to make big decisions about their dc's future.

If you can think of (or get from the LA) some specific questions, and then ask to speak to a member of staff from the unit, rather than the Receptionist, that might help.

I do feel, so much for all parents trying to choose schools through all of this Flowers
