EHCP without an ASD diagnosis for DD7 with SPD

DD(7) has been referred for ASD screening, and has quite significant sensory processing difficulties which have become much worse over the last year. We have weekly CAMHS sessions to help us with things she finds hard day-to-day, and to help me support her emotionally, as well as having just started with an OT. The SPD has reached a point that it's affecting our lives every day, we've been struggling to get her out of the house, and her behaviour has become quite ritualised over things like getting dressed, choosing food etc. I don't know enough about it but it seems quite OCD-like - and she does also have intrusive thoughts / pictures.

She is bright, articulate and has an excellent understanding of the world around her - hence why it's taken quite a long time for me to seek help with her behaviour outside school. I think she masks very well, until recently teachers haven't been able to tell there's anything amiss, though I've felt for a long while that things weren't quite "typical".

Her school are really supportive, the senco is fab, and has suggested we go through the process of applying for an EHCP. I'm really happy they have suggested it - I'm struggling to support her as it stands.

Has anyone else been through the process with a child whose difficulties are maybe harder to spot initially? Or for a child with SPD? I'm only just getting to grips with what's involved and just quite how significant sensory issues can be!
