Is your school offering places to children with ECHP?

My dd has a care plan but when I enquired about her having a school place in March I was told she must be home schooled unless that would be unsafe.
This time they issued a message asking parents who are key workers and require a school place to fill in a form explaining why they need a place. Vulnerable/care plan children not mentioned.
Is this the norm, I can safely keep her home, but since the first lockdown she has been very resistant to any attempt to be social with her or encourage her to be social with others. She was as happy as a pig in muck not having to deal with her peers and now sees no point trying. I fear this will have a long term impact on her life, far worse than any academic impact.
Interested to know if this is the norm nationwide?

It seems very different for all schools. Ds is at a new school and I'm a little disappointed with their response.

Ds has recently been given an EHCP. He's 16 and at a mainstream sixth form. School have not really said much at all. They sent an email to all parents today with a couple of sentences about children with a EHCPs but no information at all about how a parent would go about getting a place. There was an application form for critical worker's children.

DS wasn't at this school in March and didn't have an EHCP, so it's different for us than last time.

We are in a similar situation in that it's not so much the academic impact but the social/mental health impact. Ds is also being seen by CAMHS but I think that will also stop due to the lockdown.

I feel time is running out for Ds in the education system, especially getting the skills he needs to be able to transition to adulthood. And months at home without the support on his EHCP and Camhs, is going to be incredibly detrimental to him.

This time children with EHCPs must have their provision maintained so they must be offered a school place. In March EHCP provision did not have to be maintained.

We have now been offered three, three hours slots. That’s fine with me it’s more than she would be doing at home but hopefully the routine of going into school will mean she focuses on her work.

We have a DD Y8 with ehcp and she has been going in twice a week when I work. She can't access the work without support so no point her being home when I can't help her. The days she's at home her TA zooms with us for an hour to help 1:1.
