Are you in England (in which case the statement should have been converted to an EHCP), Wales or NI? SEN law is different depending on where you are.

The LA should inform the school an AR is needed at least 1 term in advance. The school should inform you of the annual review and seek your (and others involved) written views beforehand, but the Welsh SENCOP doesn't state how far in advance this should be done, only that you should receive copies of the views at least 2 weeks prior to the AR.

Whilst the SENCOP doesn't specify what should happen in the case of a disagreement on dates it does make it clear parents must be invited and supported to attend. Therefore if a date isn't suitable I would have thought the school should try to accommodate that. However, if there were many dates parents were unavailable it may be more difficult depending on the availability of other professionals attending.

You could contact Snap Cymru.

Has the statement never been amended to update it in the 10+ years?

the last 4 years its been a 1 line, statement is still suitable.

school emailed all parents saying 1 date will be given and no guarantee that we can change it, our date came for 9 days later - 7 working days. no paperwork given.
i emailed saying of course not enough time and i cannot do the date as medical app for the same child that day, and the feeling was that I was being difficult and as this was last years review (May - due to covid) it must be done.
I said i must have the paperwork 2 weeks in advance please to give me time to read and they did not know this - the other parties have not filled in any paperwork as the email went to everyone the same day inviting with the paperwork to fill in.

anyway - it is now 'delayed' till january as term ends v early so the 2 weeks notice is not actually possible, but school are cross with me asking for the legal process to actually be followed :(

thanks for the response - school is an independent and i think confused.
