Interview tips for teaching in a SEND setting

I have been a primary school teacher for 25 years, spending the last 14 years as a supply teacher in mainstream schools. I am preparing for an interview in a specialist school, what questions could I anticipate? There will also be a written task (30 minutes), how could I prepare? Thanks in advance for your help. This is my first interview in two decades!

Hi

Aside from the more mainstream interview questions...

Why the change to specialist education.

Experience/examples of working with children with a range of SEND. (SpLD, moderate LD, ASD, ADHD, FASD, SLCN, SEMH, VI, HI, physical disabilities etc.)

Experience/examples of working with children with challenging behaviour. Behaviour management strategies/de-escalation techniques.

Experience/examples of working with children with medical needs/administering medication .

Experience/examples of how a child with SEND's progress can be measured. Use of P Scales or PIVATS. Use of programmes like 2Build a Profile or B Squared. Use of SCERTS or Intensive Interaction.

Experience/examples of working with outside agencies/multi agency meetings. Administering SALT/OT/physio programs etc.

Experience/examples of using enhanced communication devices/makaton.

Positive relationships with parents and carers.

Own mental health coping strategies whilst working in a challenging environment.

The above is off the top of my head.

Go for it and good luck! You won't regret it. The children you will meet and work with are AMAZING!!!
