I am going to approach the school about this but I don’t know where to start to research what help is available.

My son is dyslexic, mainly processing and expressing himself on paper.
He has extra time awarded for exams.
He is looking to go to Uni and spoke to a teacher yesterday who told him that if he could speak to take his exam he would get A* but having to write it down he is looking at a C.
I have suggested a scribe before, but was told he didn’t qualify.

How do I go about getting him the help so that he ability shows in his grades?

Does he/could he use a laptop? This is based on his usual way of working, so if he uses it in the classroom, he should be able to use it in exams. My son has dyspraxia and dyslexia - he did an online touch-typing program every day for 10 mins and he soon learned to touch type. This has really helped, although he still writes in Maths/Science, exams as those papers don't really work very well with typing and there's not lots to write.

Are you sure he doesn't meet the criteria for a scribe? Here is the access arrangements policy.

If not, a computer as Calmed said could work.

He has a computer, has used one for a few years.
He doesnt really want a scribe, but never the less the senco says he doesnt qualify.
