My son is in year six, has quite severe dyspraxia and receives lots of support at school, he struggles with working at home, it causes him quite a lot of anxiety.

I’m also really concerned that he will be missing out on transition to secondary school days.

I wondered if anyone was in a similar situation and had any advice or tips. He’s really anxious at the moment. I’m going to try and find fun things to do, but even colouring and Lego is really tricky for him. I’ll also be fitting this in around working from home.
Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you.

I'm trying to view it that in the grand scheme of things, missing 6 months of education is nothing as everyone is in the same boat. Scale it back a bit and maybe do videos instead of writing on topics, talking through their learning, not just focusing on a physical product of work. I'm also trying to teach myself patience and it's ok if they don't do things exactly as I want them to. My ds has possible ADHD and is in full on meltdown mode over everything. He is exhausted and really needs rest and struggles to focus for long and hold information in his head. So for now, I have a list of bits to do every day and we will chip away at it. Boost his confidence where you can.

Does he have an EHCP? Both my dc do and we are sending them in on Monday.
We will see how it goes and probably reduce to part time but I think it will be better for them to retain some normality. We have very low level of infection locally which has also helped with the decision.
Additude magazine online have a useful webinar on homeschooling your ADHD child, but useful for anyone I think. Basically max 25 mins at a time, regular breaks, have a clear timetable.
