Dyslexia and kinesthetic learning style

Could anyone point me to resources to help me learn how to help my DS age 13- he has just been diagnosed with dyslexia, and I have been told, has a kinaesthetic learning style.
His teachers say he is easily distracted and poor at paying attention, and is missing out on key concepts eg in maths, as a result. His overall intelligence is average but so far has huge difficulty in sitting down to study or revise - a mixture of impatience and also huge difficulty focusing on material. I want to find techniques to help him at home.
Google is telling me these learning styles are not proven but I'm willing to try techniques to find what works for him. Will try frequent breaks, moving around more etc
Any advice or experience really appreciated or good resources on this?
Thanks

Hi there,

My DS1 is dyspraxic and has Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) and Sensory Processing Disorder. It translates into poor handwriting and attention issues.

Did you check your DS for APD? If recognised it means he can be placed at front of classroom (first row) away from distractions. Also, does he have a fidget toy or is he allowed to have blue tac as a discrete fidget? This could help with focusing.

Also Dyslexia is co-morbid with ADHD, might be worth having a look with GP then specialist Paed team.

Regarding kinaesthetic learning, maybe you could research into 'multi sensory' learning for dyslexia. Here's a link from Understood.org:

Hi artichaut
I havent heard of APD but have a lot to learn in this area. He does have attention issues but doesn't fit the criteria for ADD. I will check out the link thank you
