Hypermobility pencil grip

My DD is 5. She uses an adapted pencil grip which googling tells me is called a lateral quadrupod grip.

Her colouring is excellent and writing seems age appropriate. Is this an acceptable grip or should I be approaching physio/ OT?

She was under physio until she was 4 for piedro boots but now is just under orthotics.

Thank you to anyone with experience of this who takes the time to reply.

She wraps her thumb fully around her index finger.

Hello, I have used this grip all my life, wasn't aware of its official name and did not really notice it was non typical until grown up but that was a different era! It has never posed any problems in terms of neatness, i believe my writing is vaguely pleasing and have toyed with calligraphy in the past. I did notice that i was slower at writing in exams than my peers but my grades were pretty high and that could not be a direct correlation of my grip as such. I have a daughter with hypermobility and she does hold the pencil correctly but terribly messy writing and colouring in so if yours is neat I wouldn't see a problem but perhaps protocol has changed since my day!

My daughter holds her pen in this way the OT said she’s basically protecting her joint without realising she also said that at 7 there’s little chance of it changing and that schools and preschools are too obsessed with pencil grips. Personally if her writing and pencil control are ok I would leave her.
