Wasn't sure what section to post under so I hope this is correct.
My DS (8) has an EHCP and has since he started just before in reception on of the statements was for a teacher to be watching him while he plays to monito appropriate social behaviour as he is delayed in everything. This was withdrawn gradually and lend for no-one being needed. He has now moved up to junior school and the problems we just bound from one to the next.
I had a call from the assistant head just before end of term saying that my DS had to be spoken to as he had been poking a year 5 girl in the chest and wouldn't stop when she asked him.
They gave told him that he is to keep away from the girl and if found doing anything similar he would lose his playground time indefinitely as they wouldn't be able to trust him.
Whilst I don't condone this behaviour I am sure he didn't mean any harm. so if this is the case surly they should be putting a teacher but out to watch over his playtime not punishing by taking every playtime. It doesn't seem fair to keep a child cooped up indoors all day from 08.45- 15.25. He will literately be climbing the walls. (he has neuo developmental disorder)

Hello,

If it says in his EHCP that he is entitled to have a teacher with him during play times, then that is what he should have. An EHCP is a legal document so school have to put the provision specified in place.

As it has been a long time since his EHCP was written and he is having some difficulties, it might be worth requesting that an Educational Psychologist sees him to see if it is still meeting his needs. He might need some changes to his support now he’s older and in junior school.
